Best of luck to Amanda of Household Opera, who defends her dissertation this morning.
Posted by Invisible Adjunct at August 8, 2003 08:13 AMThank you, IA! It's over, it went well, and I'm still adapting to people calling me "Doctor." :)
Posted by: Amanda at August 9, 2003 07:45 PMcongrats on the diss defense. enjoy the party. drink lots of water before the boozing and you'll have a better chance of avoiding the hangover.
still there?
grad school doesn't let go so easily. it's not over until you turn it into the dissertation demon or whatever they call that office at your school. it's usually someone like kate turabian (who seemed picky but only looked at your diss if you _hadn't_ used one of the typists who gave her kickbacks) or someone like an ex-football coach. as with all bureaucrats, these people will insist that you come back a second time -- and that's if you're lucky.
have, uh... fun, and good luck!
