Uh no, that's not it. It's "To PhD or not to PhD," and it's the subject of this entry by Mike Van Winkle at The Chicago Report. I think I've pretty much exhausted this theme: my answer can be found under "Academic Job 'Market' Entries" on my sidebar.
Posted by Invisible Adjunct at December 2, 2003 10:52 PMGiven that I took the plunge, suffered through all those years of grad school, and am now fighting hard for one of the few remaining academic positions - while considering other options, of course - does anyone have an idea how to "sex up" a book about a Marxist history museum?
Posted by: just_a_dumb_PhD at December 2, 2003 11:34 PMCan you say more? -- without fear of revealing your identity, which I take it you don't want to do? It sounds like it already has some sex appeal. I believe there is currently a trend (or at least a mini-trend) toward public history, which includes the history of public history (uses of public space, politics of commemoration, creation of "public memory" [what's included, what's excluded] and so on). Does your work intersect with any of these themes?
